Metafuji Trail 2
A carbon-plated trail racer with FF Leap foam that rewards fast running on runnable dirt. Lower and more trail-friendly than the original, but still happiest at race effort.
What's new: Cuts 3 mm of stack, swaps the full-length plate for a more flexible X-shaped carbon plate, raises the foam sidewalls for stability and adds speedlaces and a reworked collar.

What it feels like
Fit
True to size
True to size with a racing fit: snug in the heel and midfoot, with a little more room up front.
What the critics say
- Fast, responsive forefoot with real race-shoe energy
- Light for a plated trail shoe
- Secure, sock-like upper and good grip
- Narrow, firm heel can feel wobbly on rocks and steep descents
- Loses its spark at easy paces, and it's pricey
